Im just going to say that my 2015 resolution to blog more did not work. I did create a ‘lifestyle’ blog that Ive been updating the past year, so if you want to check that out – insert gratuitous web link here.

Lately, there has been so much on my mind about – well – everything going on in this world, and I havent had an appropriate place to put all those thoughts. Im hoping to write a post a week.

Im going to start off where I left off in my last blog…..Resolutions.

This is the first year that I dont have a long list of resolutions. Ive made some resolutions that are on the silly side, as well as a couple things I would hope I can accomplish this year. For instance –

  • I want to use up all the perfume samples I have, so Im going to put on perfume whether Im going out or staying home.
  • I want to wear eyeliner everyday this year because eyeliner makes me look awake.
  • I want to do 4 new things (i.e. wine & paint night, get a massage, crafts)

I think most resolutions fail because we plan on ‘too much’. So instead of making traditional resolutions, Im opting to work with what I have and working to experience new things.

Did you make any resolutions?

…..Deep breath……Yea, its been since July since Ive blogged – buuuuuuut

One of my New Years Resolutions was to resurrect this blog with at least one new post a week. For starters, I do have alot to say, but since I am left without a physical voice at least half the year, this is where Im forced to ‘say’ it.

So, here are my scattered thoughts on wrapping up 2014 and looking forward to 2015.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS?

Anyway, as of today (January 4, 2015) I am 669 days smoke free because I switched to ecigs. My health has somewhat improved….I havent had to use the rescue inhaler for quite some time.

Obviously vaping isnt going to improve actual chronic conditions….and the act of quitting combustable tobacco takes time to actually show improvement – and there is reducing your mg of nicotine (Ive gone from 24 mg to 0-3 mg).

Ive increased how much water I drink and only drink a cup of hot green tea a day (I used to be able to down a pot of coffee plus drink sodas all day).

I also spent my Christmas week completely news free. Granted that wasnt exactly a New Years resolution but it was something I needed to do for my own sanity. I believe that may turn into a tradition -depending on the severity of what is going on in the world, of course.

I cleaned up alot of my social media feeds. This covers removing people I dont speak to, inactive accounts, and just otherwise negative folks. I have also kept my exposure to these social networks to a minimum, which actually has made my life alot more peaceful.

REALIZATIONS

2015 was also the year I found out who my real friends are and just how fake others have been.

See-when you have a chronic illness, and your health deteriorates, and you cant travel or even get out of your house – you dont expect your friends to ‘trade’ you in for another person who can do those things. Real friends just dont abandon you like that…..they just dont leave you hang. And they certainly dont just stop talking to you. So goodbye to those people.

CHANGE?

At the end of last year, I asked people to send me suggestions of things that I might have missed…..(music videos, youtube channels, podcasts, Netflix shows/movies) So, everyday in 2015, I will be stepping outside my ‘comfort zone’ to watch things I would have otherwise missed. I also suggest you do the same. Its already been eye opening as to what I have missed simply because it wasnt in my radar.

This is also going to be a year of personal change. Because of my illness, Ive been very inactive this year. I wont go into the details in this post as to what has been going on, but its been difficult to go more than 10 minutes from my home without huge issues. I will be setting a weekly goal to ‘move my body’ so I get in some resemblence of normalcy back in my life.

A continuing goal of mine is to reduce the clutter. This includes clothing you wont ever wear again, papers you wont need, and other belongings that you just dont love/need/want. I personally donate what I can, recycling what I can and tossing the rest.

LETS WRAP THIS UP NOW, SHALL WE?

I have other goals for this year, but those will be mentioned in other posts where they will make a little more sense. But thanks for reading and I hope you stick around for 2015!

Well, here we are again….New Years Eve. This is the one time of year where we all feel the need to tell everyone what your New Years resolutions are…..and of course, I have made my own….and of course, Im gonna tell you what they are. Did you expect anything less?

This year, Im doing something a little different. Since Ill be turning 40 in June, my resolutions will mostly consists of learning new things and meeting new people.

Last year I kept up with all but one resolution. That one was to complete the organization of my photos. Ive gotten to 2003 (but that was done in 2009) so I havent been successful keeping that one AT ALL. So it will be included once again on this years list, but modified to make it more accomplishable.

2011 Resolutions

  • To learn at least one new thing about science every week.
  • To read one book a month.
  • To work on my photo albums once a week.
  • To meet one new person a month.
  • To attend 4 events that I wouldnt normally attend.

What are you resolving to do in the upcoming year?

Wow! I cannot beleive that it has been 3 weeks since Ive blogged. Weve all had bouts with whatever form of ick went around…Matts even gotten sent home from school a couple times.

Anyway, I really didnt want to blog about anything political – so Ive kept my blogging mouth shut!

So, after accomplishing almost everything on last year’s resolution list, I am definately aiming a little higher this year. Im going to change some habits and truly be organized!

Here they are:

1) I will complete the organizing of my photo albums. I made it from 1971 to 2003 last year, so I feel that this resolution should be a breeze.

2) I will organize my recipes. I have so many loose ones plus duplicates from previous attempts. I hope to start this project by March.

3) I will keep the linen closet un-cluttered. This is a no-brainer.

4) I will go thru old files / old magazine scraps at least once a week. I went 6 months without doing it last year. I hope to keep up on it better this year.

5) We will begin recycling aluminum. Last year I resolved to recycle paper, and I have become a paper nazi (sorry about the descriptive word-If it offends, I am sorry)

6) I will drink at least one bottle of water a day. Every bottle drank will replace a caffeinated drink.

7) I will make sure to take 15 minutes EVERY morning to stretch and warm up. This is mostly because of my joint pain, and I realize that I have to strech every morning, not just the ones I feel pain.

So, do you think Ive aimed too high? What are your resolutions?
I am finally done with decorating! Just got odds and ends before Christmas Eve!

Well, its November now, and I found the paper with my resolutions written on it.

I didnt do too bad.

1-Learn a new graphics program (nope, this one didnt happen. Im stuck on mic)
2-Reduce clutter (yep)
3-Keep linen closet straight (yep)
4-Keep closet clean and organized (yep)
5-Organize photos (in progress)

The only resolution I completely ignored was to learn a new graphics program. I totally love using mic. Maybe Ill learn a new program next year.

I have been organizing my photos since mid-October. So far, Im up to 2003. Not bad. Definately an improvement in the area they are contained.

Im looking ahead to 2009 and wondering what areas of my life need a kick start.
This year, Im posting my resolutions here, that way I dont lose the list!
